Importing Your Portfolio From a Brokerage

3 min read

The fastest way to get your real holdings into Ezana is to link the brokerage account where they already live. Ezana connects through one of two aggregators, SnapTrade or Plaid, and imports your positions and balances so your dashboard reflects what you actually own. You never type your brokerage password into Ezana: you sign in with the aggregator or your broker, and Ezana receives a token for your account data.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the Home page and find the My Portfolio panel at the top.
  2. Click + Add Portfolio. The Connect your brokerage window opens with a searchable grid of institutions.
  3. Search for your broker and select it. Tiles marked Read-only cannot place trades through the connection; tiles marked 2 providers let you choose between SnapTrade and Plaid.
  4. If asked, pick a provider, then review the disclosure screen. It states whether the connection will be read-only or will include trading access.
  5. Click Continue and finish signing in with your broker, including any two-factor prompt.
  6. You return to Home, where Ezana syncs your accounts and loads your holdings.

How it works

Plaid connections are always read-only: Ezana can show holdings, balances and recent activity, and cannot place orders. SnapTrade connections are read-only for crypto exchanges and for brokers that do not allow trading through SnapTrade; for brokers that do, the connection requests trading access where available, and your broker asks you to approve it. Access levels are explained in Brokerage Access Levels.

Sync cadence depends on the provider. SnapTrade holdings update several times a day. Plaid holdings refresh once per day with end-of-day data, and those rows carry an EOD badge in your holdings table.

Once synced, your holdings feed the Home page: the My Portfolio value at the top, the Holdings table under Positions & progress (symbol, day change, value and weight), and the Sector breakdown beside it. If you link more than one account, positions in the same ticker are combined.

Troubleshooting

  • “Already connected via another provider”? An institution can be linked through only one aggregator at a time. Remove the existing connection before switching.
  • Holdings table says “Holdings sync in progress”? Your accounts are linked but positions have not arrived yet. Refresh the page after a few minutes.
  • Broker not in the grid? See Which Brokerages We Support.

Disconnecting

A disconnect button is not currently available in the app. To remove a connection, email contact@ezana.world, or revoke Ezana’s access from your broker’s connected-apps page. More in Managing External Brokerage Connections.

FAQ

Q: Can I start the connection from Settings?

A: Use + Add Portfolio on the Home page. That is where the brokerage connection flow lives today.

Q: Should I pick SnapTrade or Plaid?

A: SnapTrade syncs more often and can support trading for some brokers. Plaid is read-only with daily data, which is useful if you already use Plaid elsewhere.

Q: Can I type in my holdings instead?

A: Manual entry and CSV import are not currently available on individual accounts. See Importing Positions From a CSV.
