This article explains how money moves in and out of an Ezana brokerage account, and what you can do today. In short: deposits and withdrawals are not currently available inside the Ezana app. Your Ezana brokerage account page shows your cash and buying power, and funding tools are planned for a later release.
How it works
- You apply for an Ezana brokerage account held with Alpaca Securities from Trading → Brokerage Account.
- During the application, you tell Alpaca where your funds come from (for example employment income or savings).
- Once the account is approved, the Trading page shows an account snapshot with Equity, Buying power, and Cash.
- In-app bank linking, deposits, and withdrawals are not currently available; watch the account opening guide for updates.
What you can do today
- Practice with virtual cash: the mock portfolio starts with $100,000 and needs no funding.
- Track money you already invest elsewhere: connect an external brokerage through SnapTrade or Plaid. See Connecting Your External Brokerage Account.
- Fund at your own brokerage: money in a connected account is always deposited and withdrawn at that brokerage, never through Ezana. See Executing Trades From Ezana for what is and is not available.
Things to know
- When bank transfers do launch, standard ACH transfers generally take a few business days to settle, and buying power usually reflects settled cash.
- Money you hold at an external brokerage never moves through Ezana. Read-only connections cannot move money at all.
- Alpaca Securities is a member of SIPC. SIPC protection covers broker failure, not market losses.
Troubleshooting
- Can’t find a Deposit button? That is expected; in-app funding is not available yet.
- Application still pending? The Trading page shows your status, and Ezana emails you when it changes.
- Balance at a linked brokerage looks off? Plaid data refreshes once a day.

Q: Are there fees to deposit or withdraw?
A: In-app transfers are not available yet, so there is nothing to charge. Your bank’s own policies are separate.
Q: Can I add more virtual cash to my mock portfolio?
A: Not directly, but Reset Portfolio on the mock trading page lets you start over with any amount from $1,000 to $10,000,000 (default $100,000).
