Ezana lets you practice with virtual money and track or trade with real money, side by side. Knowing which mode you are looking at keeps you from mistaking a practice result for a real one.
How it works
- Paper trading (Mock Portfolio). Found under Trading, then Mock Portfolio. You start with $100,000 of virtual cash, and trades fill instantly at the latest quote at any time of day. No real order is ever placed. It exists purely inside the app, for learning and testing ideas.
- Connected brokerage. Link an existing account from the Home page with + Add Portfolio, then choose Connect your brokerage. Ezana imports your holdings so they appear in your portfolio views. Plaid connections are read-only; SnapTrade connections may request trading access where your broker allows it, and the disclosure screen tells you which. Placing orders through a connection is not currently available.
- Ezana brokerage account. Found under Trading, then Brokerage Account. This is a real-money account powered by Alpaca, opened through an in-app application after you complete the onboarding checklist. Order entry from inside Ezana is not currently available; the full trading workspace ships in a later release.
Step-by-step: choosing a mode
- Start in Trading → Mock Portfolio to learn the order flow with no risk.
- When you want your real holdings in Ezana, go to Home → + Add Portfolio and connect your brokerage.
- If you want a real-money Ezana account, open Trading → Brokerage Account and follow the application steps.
Things to know
- Simulated results are not advice. Mock performance ignores slippage, commissions, and settlement, so it is not a forecast or guarantee of real returns.
- Both can exist at once. Your mock portfolio is kept on your account even after you connect a real brokerage, so you can keep practicing.
- Which one is my Home dashboard showing? The portfolio cards read from your mock portfolio when you have one, and from a connected brokerage otherwise. Check the page labels (for example, Open Positions versus Total Companies) if you are unsure.
- Starting over. You can reset the mock portfolio at any time from the Reset Portfolio button on the Mock Portfolio page.
